Publications of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod

Please note: Changes in synod staffing has resulted in the discontinuation of two synod publications and limitations on the number of items included in the monthly mailing.

As of March 2009, Thanks to You and Partners in the Spirit are no longer being published. The February 2009 issue of Thanks to You was the last issue of that bulletin insert published. The final issue of Partners in the Spirit was the March 2009 issue.

The synod continues to send out E-News, a weekly e-newsletter for rostered and congregational leaders (pastors, deaconesses, associates in ministry), congregations, and anyone interested in keeping up to date with happenings across the synod and around the ELCA.

Synod News, a monthly, one-page (two-sided) sheet designed to be included in congregational newsletters, worship bulletins, online newsletters, or other media, was discontinued briefly but became available again with the October 2009 issue. It is available in PDF format that can be downloaded or printed directly from this website. It is also mailed to synod congregations in the monthly mailing from the synod office.

Also continuing is the monthly calendar of weekday prayers, available in PDF format. Each weekday at 9:30 a.m. the staff of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod pauses for prayer. Each day there are prayers for specific rostered leaders and congregations of the synod. Also included each week are one of the churchwide units of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and its director, the local judicatory of one of our full communion partners, and one of our global Lutheran partners.

Special note: On the ninth of every month, we pray for peace in the Middle East. That day of the month is the date for Pennsylvania churches to participate in the ELCA-supported ecumenical prayer vigil for peace.
