Publications of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod

The Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod publishes an online magazine (Partners in the Spirit), two monthly newsletters (Synod News and Thanks to You), and a monthly calendar of weekday prayers (Prayers).

E-News is sent weekly to rostered and congregational leaders (pastors, deaconesses, associates in ministry), congregations, and anyone interested in keeping up to date with happenings across the synod and around the ELCA. Sign up by sending an email with Request for E-News in the subject line to info@nepsynod.org.

Partners in the Spirit is an online news magazine featuring stories about congregations, individuals, groups, and ministries across the synod and among its partners in ministry. It is published 9 times a year. Current and back issues from its first online publication in October 2003 are available by clicking here.

Before its online publication, a paper edition of Partners was published five times a year. The last paper issue of Partners was the January 2003 issue. Back issues of Partners in the Spirit are available for download or printing. Scroll to the end of the web page about the magazine.

Synod News is a monthly, one-page (two-sided) sheet designed to be included in congregational newsletters, worship bulletins, or other mailings. It is available in PDF format that can be downloaded or printed directly from this website. It is also mailed to synod congregations in the monthly mailing from the synod office.

Thanks to You is a bulletin insert sent to all congregations in the monthly mailing from the synod office. It tells about the many ways that congregational benevolence is used in ministry across the synod and the ELCA. It is also available in PDF format and may be printed directly from the Thanks to You page of the website.

Each weekday at 9:30 a.m. the staff of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod pauses for prayer. Each day there are prayers for specific rostered leaders and congregations of the synod. Also included each week are one of the churchwide units of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and its director, the local judicatory of one of our full communion partners, and one of our global Lutheran partners.

Special note: On the ninth of every month, we pray for peace in the Middle East. That day of the month is the date for Pennsylvania churches to participate in the ELCA-supported ecumenical prayer vigil for peace.
