Reclaiming Jubilee Senior High Event

What: A week-long mission/servant event in Reading, PA for senior high youth
When: August 4-10, 2013
Cost: $150 per person
Registration deadline: July 15, 2013

Sponsor: Youth, Young Adult and Family Ministry Team

Reclaiming Jubilee is a weeklong event for senior high youth taking place August 4-10 in Reading, Pa. It's a chance to meet youth from all over the synod and to join with congregations and youth in Reading to be a presence in the city.

This event is for learning, fellowship and fun. Come and witness the great things that are happening in the city, explore and witness exciting and fun events, enjoy a rich culture, and be educated about the city. Experience worship, music, guest speakers from the city, local cuisine, art, and much more.

Throughout the week, groups of participants will go to various ministries and projects around the city to volunteer where you can. In addition to volunteering, you will also have time throughout the day to talk to leaders and other participants about what you have witnessed and to discuss practical ways to incorporate these thoughts into your life.

All of this will culminate in a block party later in the week that you will help plan and organize for the community of Reading – and in which you will participate with the people in the community.

Saxony Companion Synod Youth Exchange

The Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, is a companion synod with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saxony. A youth exchange is planned for July 16-26, 2013.

Youth Vision Trip to Tanzania

The Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, is a companion synod with the South Central Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT). A group of youth and two adult chaperones will travel to Tanzania for a 2-week-long service trip in the South Central Diocese.

The trip will take place June 20-July 5, 2013.

Youth Cultural Exchange, Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod and the Evangelical Church in Slovenia

A youth cultural exchange between the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod and the Evangelical Church in Slovenia is continuing. Teens from Slovenia traveled here during the summer of 2012 and were hosted by American teens (and their families)> The American teens will, in turn, travel to Slovenia this summer (June 19-July 20).

Each exchange is for three weeks. There are several (3 to 5) group events, but, for the most part, you will be on your own with your teen and are encouraged to integrate the teen into your family’s daily routine. The intent is for the teens from each country to be exposed to the culture and lifestyle of their hosts.
